Jeff's Bio

Ask anyone who knows me what they think of first when they hear my name and they will most likely say Manchester United. I am a die-hard supporter and consider it a true joy to write articles about the world's most popular club or of anything else related to sports for that matter.

I'm an American hailing from Illinois but I was born and lived most of my life in Kenya. I consider it to be my second home and I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't grown up there. I wouldn't trade the experiences, the insights and any of the memories I gained from living in Africa for anything. The English Premier League has a large fan support in Africa and it was an absolutely fantastic experience being in the middle of it. If I had one wish, it would be for soccer to be as big in the US as it is everywhere else in the world. Hopefully I have a long time left to live, however, and maybe, just maybe, will one day be able to see my wish come true. In the meantime, I will be using my journalism skills to the best of my ability in order to see this happen.

I've been at Bleacher Report for eight wonderful months and made my way up the ladder to become a Co-Community Leader for Manchester United alongside Salaar Shamsi. But after 100 articles I decided to call an end to my time here on Bleacher Report. During my time here I made it a priority to publish top notch articles and help everyone do the same. I sought to improve my journalism skills and play my part in helping Bleacher Report grow and prosper even further.

I would like to express my gratitude to Zander Freund, B/R's Community Director, for all the help he was to me since I joined and all the work he puts into making this Website what it is.

Now that my time here on Bleacher Report has come to an end I will most likely not be checking my profile page for posts any longer. So if you wish to contact me for any reason you can do so at jeff_from_kenya@yahoo.com

All the best,
Jeff

Lastly, I will leave you with a few of my favorite quotes.

"You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try." - Beverly Sills

"Throw your heart over the fence and the rest will follow." - Norman Vincent Peale

"It may sound strange, but many champions are made champions by setbacks." - Bob Richards

"Nothing worth having comes easy." - Dr. Kelso

And I'll say it one more time... PLEASE DON'T leave any posts on my profile. I will not be checking so if you wish to contact me you can do so through my e-mail listed above. Thanks.

  1. Hey Jeff. Would this be one of the best match-ups this season?

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/79400-what-we-all-should-wish-for-this-christmas

  2. Well, I am definitely not sifting through the litany of gratuitously ingratiating comments on your last article, but hey, why are you leaving the wesite? Do you know something I don't? Truthfully, I'm interested in your reason, or perspective,.. briefly, of course.. drop me a note if you care.

  3. Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the note, you have a wonderful life ahead and be happy.

    Take care of you.

    Warm Regards,
    Sarah/Saraswathi

  4. No worries mate , good luck to you as well . I hardly write football articles anymore , i attract a bit of attention to say the very least , but im an old school kinda fan , i dont mince my words and when i say Man U are the best team in england and europe .....i mean it . Liverpool dont stand a chance ! Id love to be co leader for MUFC , your shoes are big ones to fill tho , ill have to dig deep to make it , but thanks for the confidence in me to tell me to take over . hopefully you will leave your account open and drop in every now and then .......take care Jeff

  5. Dude you can ask me anything anytime. Don`t really get the quitting thing. I myself feel the strain of writing a lot. I`ve cut down to once a week but no need to quit. Just don`t write. Come by and post a comment ask a question ..whatever. I think BR has enhanced my knowledge of world football cause of people like you. I feel like I know much more about Europe and EPL now than 99% of my countrymen...all thanks to BR. Hope to see you around.

  6. Hey Jeff,

I've had a look at the story and tragedy of the greatest player that never lived. A player with all the ability to top Pele, Maradona, Di Stefano etc, but who had it robbed from him early on in his career. I'd appreciate it if you took a look and commented if possible, and don't forget to rate it!

  10. Jeff,

Shocked and sorry to see you leaving the B/R. Stay in touch, yeah? Are you on facebook?

  11. Yeah Im actually planning to go back this next summer. Although this time, once I land at Jomo Kenyatta airport, i'll pass right through Nairobi and go straight to Mombasa...

  12. Well it was between 2005 and 2007. I spent long periods in Nairobi too but Ive grown to despise the city. So full of noise, pollution and hardcore thieves. The crooked cops (im sure you've seen loads of those) never hesitated to stop me cos I looked different from everybody else. They would always say " Lete Pesa" lol.

Other than that, I been to see Kisumu, Malindi and Garissa. What about you though, whereabouts where staying at?

  13. haha what is your reason for leaving? I love your latest article by the way. You shed some much needed light the situation in Africa. I couldnt help but notice though, that you spent a whopping 14 years in Kenya?

Whereabouts was that?? because I spent a couple of years down there aswell. I was out in the Coast Province!!

Mombasa to be more precise. I absolutely loved the place that and what was supposed to be a 3 week vacation turned into a 2 and a half year stay lol...

  14. Hi mate

Ive just writtern my latest article in the Top five series. this time I focus on Liverpool and their top five players. I would realy apreachate it if you could take a look and cast a vote and if you feel like it a comment would be great.

    Benjamin
