Brian's Bio

I have loved sports for as long as I remember. Growing up in Texas I grew to love high school football. I spent my college days at Texas Tech University so I like to keep with the BIG 12 and absolutely LOVE college football! Currently I live in Hoboken, NJ, just outside NYC. While I haven't converted to a Yankees or Giants fan it is hard not to get swept up in the lore of new york city sports! I don't root or follow one specific sports team; I simply love to watch for the sport of it. Currently, MMA takes up most of my time in regards to sports. I remember watching the first UFC's with my high school friends and it has been great to see the resurrection and meteoric rise of MMA.

    Anderson Silva vs Cote Tanks On PPV

    The trending patterns as a prediction of the buy rate continued to be right on as the 10/25 show in Chicago headlined by Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Cote did 300,000 buys.

    The numbers for the Anderson headlined PPV were worse than normal. Silva usually draws in the 330 to 350k range for ppv buys. That number had looked to increase with Anderson’s fight vs James Irvin being on free television and doing a strong rating. In addition, the UFC and Spike had heavily promoted Brazilian as the best pound for pound fighter in the world as a hook to intrigue fans into buying the PPV. Pre-fight indicators seemed to back up this supposed increase ability to draw, as the Countdown to UFC 90 did a record number of viewers. This may have had more to do with the show having the higher rated TNA wrestling show as a strong lead in, as opposed to that be a true sign of increased interest in Anderson on PPV.

    My next article ... dunno, yet. I don't wanna just post up breaking news articles, 'cause all you're doing is copying and pasting, and really that info can be found anywhere, I'd rather do the thought provoking stuff. I've been thinking about the steroid thing, and Marcus Davis & Nick Diaz having scar tissue removed through surgery, and pondering when is performance enhancing not performance enhancing?

    It's interesting your take about the heavyweight being your least favorite.

    I used to be huge on pro wrestling, but I hated nearly every main event match. The little guys scampering around and doing the riskier stuff was always more appealing to me. The thing is, you always have to respect the power game. And that comes with the bigger guys.

    It's actually interesting because the only pro wrestling I watch now is Ring Of Honor, where all the wrestlers are of the flippy dangerous variety except for about 4, which is what makes those 4 so compelling.

    So i can see how it is the same in MMA, where Brock Lesnar is essentially out of place, but once out of place becomes in style, it's a whole new ball game.

    i dont have a secret. i just write. I don't even have the record for the most POTDs. Gray Ghost has had 11 different POTDs and he's been here for 4 months. 11 POTDs out of 19 articles - that's crazy.

    I am an Auburn fan, not Alabama...sorry. I do like MMA and primarily because I like Don Frye. That guy could fight. I also like Cro-cop, A Silva, W Silva, Chuck, Fedor, Randy and Penn. Not in that order. Ofcourse I like a good beatdown as well as the next man!
