S M 's Bio
My profile pics, Black Stone Cherry.
Hailing from Edmonton, a small town in south-central Kentucky, the Alternative-Rock four man band Black Stone Cherry was formed in mid-2001 when singer+guitarist Chris Robertson and drummer John Fred Young began playing together while they were still teenagers in high school, with guitarist Ben Wells and bassist John Lawton joining them soon afterward.
In July 2006, the quartet issued their debut self-titled CD on Roadrunner records; the albums release was prefaced by the smash single "Lonely Train" which peaked at No. 14 on the Hot Mainstream Rock chart and was followed by two more Album Rock Radio top 40 hits: "Hell and High Water" and "Rain Wizard". Black Stone Cherry, ended up at No. 90 on the Bill Board 200 chart while the band supported this album on the road opening for such Heavy-Rock Titans as: Shinedown, Black Label Society, Buck Cherry, Whitesnake and Def Leppard.
The Kentucky quartet delivered a second album, "Folklore and Superstition", in August 2008 that was destined to elevate them to the level they rightly deserved, it quickly bulleted into the top 40 of the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "Blind Man", manages to capture the essences of the band's stunning live performance.
Few bands this young - none of the four members are older than 23, the youngest is 20 - sound this powerful or versatile. They're hard and heavy, full throttle, but Black Stone Cherry is southern to the core and they come by their love of music in a genuine way: it's in their blood and it's in their home.
Originally from Biloxi, Mississippi, grew up a Air Force brat moving every couple of years.
I'm a avid auto racing fan, but love NASCAR best and NCWTS is my favorite series these days. Why it's old school NASCAR at it's best, has all the young talent, a mix of wiley Veterans and they put on the best show of the three series. Also follow Bobby Labonte Racing, the Camping World East & West Series, NHRA, Grave Digger fan, Indycar Series & F1.
I'm the community leader of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, also your unofficial source for updates on the Speed Demon, write about Kevin Harvick, Bobby Labonte and will also be writing about the Bobby Labonte Racing No. 44 team.
I'm also a Chicago Bears fan, have written about them a couple of times and Charles "Peanut" Tillman's my favorite current player.
Always been a fan of the underdogs, can't help it back in 1992 the Underbird made me a believe.
I'm old school, my two other passions are reading Westerns with some Mystery/Thrillers mixed in and Music. Play a little Harmonica, and my beverage of choice is Miller High Life.
My favorite quote, comes from a radio DJ by the name of the Party Guru, that I listened too growing up. He ended each show saying, "Be good, remember keep one foot in the gold, one in the gutter and you'll never get lost".
All my writing is dedicated to my dad, miss you Pop.
