Danny's Bio

Born and raised in Oakland, Danny is a former member of the Humboldt State University men's soccer team. Despite playing college soccer, he is a self-proclaimed baseball purist. He is a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan and basically half of his wardrobe is orange and black. Being a baseball nerd means he reads Baseball America usually more than his read my own textbooks.

Penza is not your normal sports fan. He doesn't panic after every game and the use of "we" when speaking of a team he roots for is strictly prohibited. He prefers to listen to Giants games on the radio because that's how his dad taught him how to do things and listening to Jon Miller and David B. Flemming talk about Shakespeare during any point of a game is priceless.

However his knowledge is not just limited to America's pastime. Penza is also a huge fan of Italy's most storied football club, Juventus. His admiration of the club can be contributed to one man: the world's best goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon. Since becoming a fan of Juve, Penza has grown to love every aspect of the game.

Before putting his concentration simply on writing for Bleacher Report, Penza served as an editing intern with the B/R crew this past summer. He now has the pleasure of serving as the community leader for two sections, San Francisco Giants and Serie A. Whether it's an article about San Francisco's baseball team or Italy's top flight, he has probably read it.

His Nov. 19, 2008 article "Anthony Morrow Can't Drive to Practice, But He Can Drive to the Basket" was featured on cbssportsline.com's NBA page.

His Dec. 12, 2008 article "Battle of the Italian Legends: Paolo Maldini vs. Alessandro Del Piero" was featured on foxsoccer.com's front page.

His Dec. 17, 2008 article "Juventus Youngsters Proving a Big Signing Isn't Needed Anytime Soon" was featured on foxsoccer.com's Europe and Serie A front page.

His Jan. 5, 2009 contributions to the Juventus Roundtable entitled "Should the Old Lady Make a Big Move in January?" was featured on foxsoccer.com's front page.
