Bob's Bio

I am a lifelong Chicagoan who loves sports, especially baseball, and especially the Cubs. I could die a happy man if the Cubs could just once win the damn World Series. But I refuse to die until they do, which ensures a long life I think.

I have a passion for writing, am opinionated, and I don't bathe frequently. I do try to be balanced and fair, but I look forward to your comments, I love feedback.

On a personal note, I have three kids, one of each. If you want to know more about me, first consult a therapist. But if you still insist, Sam Wenk was kind enough to do a brief profile on me for BR:

I am the Chicago Cubs Community Leader, and we're trying to become THE place to go for your online Cubs fix. Tell your friends, wake the neighbors, phone the kids. We're always looking for fresh Cubbie talent, so drop me a line on my Bulletin Board below, or via my personal e-mail at rememberthecoop@yahoo.com - I'd be happy to help you in any way possible.

Bob Writes About

The Short List What Bob thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

Current: Kerry Wood, Greg Maddux, Brian Urlacher, Kobe Bryant, Alice Cooper (golf). Past: Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Pete Rose, Jim McMahon, Walter Payton, Wilt Chamberlain, Ryne Sandberg, Rick Sutcliffe, Billy Williams, Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, Keith Magnuson, Jack Nicklaus..

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cowboys, Florida Gators, Fightin' Illini.

  • All Time Sports Moment

The Chicago Bears Super Bowl season of 1985. Every where you went in Chicago, the Super Bowl Shuffle was playing. Never got tired of it.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Believe it or not, it was a Chicago Cougars hockey game when Bobby Hull came back to Chicago and scored a hat trick. I got his autograph.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Most victories & complete games, MLB pitching. These records can never be broken because of 5 man rotations and the evolution of the bullpen. Also, number of hot dogs consumed by Babe Ruth in one season.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth - he was a great pitcher in addition to a great hitter.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Montana. I don't remember much of Unitas. Then again, I don't remember much of last night.

  • Jordan or Russell?

MJ. I don't recall Jane Russell ever playing any sports.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky. Orr redefined the position; Gretzky redefined the sport.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele. Besides, that Maradona chick is an overrated singer in my opinion.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Who cares? Neither one looks good in a dress.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

I know Tiger will end up with all the records, but give me Jack & Arnie any day.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    Tom Petty.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

Excuse me, did you say something?

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

    Big 10
