Writer bio

I am a lifelong Chicagoan who loves sports, especially baseball, and especially the Cubs. I could die a happy man if the Cubs could just once win the damn World Series. But I refuse to die until they do, which ensures a long life I think.

I have a passion for writing, am opinionated, and I don't bathe frequently. I do try to be balanced and fair, but I look forward to your comments, I love feedback.

On a personal note, I have three kids, one of each. If you want to know more about me, first consult a therapist. But if you still insist, Sam Wenk was kind enough to do a brief profile on me for BR:

Writer bio

I'm currently a Communications major at the University of Akron with aspirations of being a writer or broadcaster.

My favorite sports are football and baseball. I'm a die hard Indians fan, but as you can tell that's pretty much the only Ohio team I like, that doesn't really make me popular around my area. Not that I had a shot at that to begin with.

I run a complete blog that covers everything Cleveland Indians. Check out the my website link on the side if you hate me or like the Indians. I waste a lot of time updating useful roster pages and photoshoping Indians players onto heads of Super Mario characters.

I also host a radio show every Thursday at 6:30 PM ET for Pigskinheaven.com. Its not big time but hey, it pays the bills. No not really, I do it for free and take a lot of...

To the left is a picture of me as I hiked back up the Grand Canyon after hiking down to Phantom Ranch that same morning. Me and my dad hiked down the Bright Angel Trail, and up the Kaibab Trail.

Currently in high school, I run cross-country and track (one-mile and two-mile). I have a deep love for all Minnesota sports, but I have a deeper love for my Creator, Jesus Christ. I hope to bring you entertaining and relevant articles while I rant on whichever Minnesota sport happens to be struggling.

I recently came closer to Mexico when I moved to Tucson, Arizona, but moved farther away from my Minnesota sports.

No, I don't limit my interests to Minnesota sports. I love all sports, but I tend to gravitate towards the NFL. I will try to find peace with Arizona fans and maybe pick up a...

Writer bio

I grew up in northeast Ohio as an avid fan of Cleveland sports. I started to become a fan just as the Browns of the late '80s were losing AFC Championship Games to John Elway and those damn Broncos on a yearly basis. Little did I know then, that I was being setup for what was to continue in the world of Cleveland sports.

It had been going on since 1964. The city was and continues to be without a major sports championship since the 1964 Cleveland Browns. And not only do the local teams not win championships, they lose in excruciating ways that make you believe that there is such a thing as a jinx.

As the Cleveland Indians began their successful run through the '90s in the newly built Jacobs Field, I became a baseball fan at heart. It is really the only sport that I have grown to ...

I am a sophomore at John F. Kennedy High School. I have played 3 sports in organized leagues. I played JV Football last season, I'm a quarterback. I played baseball in BCC from about age 10-13. I played basketball in the YES League in 2007. I enjoy watching sports, playing sports, writing about sports. My favorite team is the Baltimore Ravens. I also like the Orioles. I despise the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals. Even though I hate the Yankees to death, I have some Yankee fan friends. I'm 15 years old, probably the only one here at that age. I have been a sports guy since 1998, when I was 5! Then, I liked the Cowboys. I started liking my current favorite team, the Ravens. I mostly write about baseball, but I know a lot about each sport.

7 - The Roundtable

Writer bio

Come on in! Grab a seat. Need a beer? That's what the Roundtable is about.

The name comes from our college hangout. There was one bar that knew us by name, always had an open table, and became the location of some great debates. Sure, some of them may have been about what song needed to be played on the jukebox, but the point remains. And it has really stuck. The Roundtable is where your friends gather to go over all sorts of topics. And the table always has an open seat.

You'll mainly see fantasy sports writing, concentrating on baseball and football. But there will be more than a few pieces on other topics that strike points of interest.

The Roundtable has a blog located at http://elmhurstpub.blogspot.com/

Thanks for checking us out, and be sure to tip your waitress.

Writer bio

Dan is a fourth year at the University of Chicago, a die-hard Minnesota Twins fan, an Arsenal fan in training, and a general sports addict. He's also a political junkie, Tenor, Bass, amateur music critic, and huge nerd.

Dan is one of BRs marketing interns and has thoroughly enjoyed his time looking for Twins fans who share his passion and want to write about it cogently. He presently resides in London, England and is slowly adjusting to his inability to watch American Sports live.

13 - Derek Coffelt

Writer bio

I'm a young college student living in metro-Atlanta. My day job currently is in retail but I long for a career in sports journalism. My favorite sport is baseball but I watch basketball and football as well. I collect baseball cards as a side hobby because of my passion for the game.

I live for sports, it is what gets me through the rough times as I'm sure it does for many others. I hope to become a premier writer sometime in the future as I've embarked on this journey in my college career.

My favorite sports team is the Cardinals ever since I saw the great home run chase of '98 with Sosa and Big Mac. I've been privy to highs and lows with my team including a World Series championship in '06, but I've been through the disastrous '04 World Series sweep. I bleed Cardinal red.

14 - Danny Penza

Writer bio

Born and raised in Oakland. I am a self-proclaimed baseball purist. I am a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan and basically half my wardrobe is orange and black. I listen to Giants games on the radio because that's how my dad taught me to do things and listening to Jon Miller and David B. Flemming talk about Shakespeare during any point of a game is priceless. I am a baseball prospect junkie and that means I read Baseball America usually more than I read my own textbooks.

I'm not your normal sports fan. I don't panic after every game. I don't use "we" when speaking of a team I root for. I'm not a homer. If the team isn't good, I'm not afraid to say it.

I served as a editing intern with the B/R crew this past summer and now I have the pleasure of serving as the community...

Born and raised in San Francisco, CA. I'm a diehard Giants, 49ers, and Warriors fan. I recently graduated from UCSB with a B.A. in business economics and minor in sports management. I fully intend to combine my two passions in life, sports and business, into a successful, dynamic, and challenging career.

I recently started interning at BleacherReport in San Francisco as the Major League Baseball Community Coordinator. My job is to unite, inspire, and strengthen team communities around the entire league in any way possible.

Now that baseball is entering off-season mode, I am going to transition my efforts towards the EPL. I love football, have played it since the age of 5, and am looking forward to this opportunity. Our EPL community is strong and dedicated and I can only hope to...

17 - Travis Nelson

Writer bio

Travis has been writing about baseball since 2002. He started the Boy of Summer blog in August of that year and has had his work featured on Baseball Outsider, 360thePitch, All-Baseball, and MVN. Travis also once was interviewed for a local TV station, got a snarky one-line letter to Sports Illustrated published, interviewed Jim Palmer (sort of), met Lou Piniella in a Nordstrom in Paramus, NJ, and didn't shake Ron Guidry's hand. That was a lie. Also, he's probably taller than you.

18 - Peter Fleischer

Writer bio

For starters, I'm Peter. I know you already knew that, but I figure an introduction is still appropriate. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and I go to school at the best journalism school in the country, Missouri.

I'm a huge sports fan. I always have been. I've read the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Sports section every day since I was seven years old, and respect (almost) everybody in the sports industry, from athletes to writers to management. If I could make my living in the industry, that would be a dream come true for me.

I love the Cardinals, Rams, and obviously all Mizzou sports. I follow the Blues, but not passionately, and root for the Celtics and Grizzlies in the NBA. My passion for my teams will surely bleed into my writing. I'll do my best to cover a wide-variety of spo...

Writer bio

With the Oakland Coliseum minutes away from home, I had no choice but to be a sports fan.

While my dad was in the Navy our family moved from city to city until we settled in the Bay Area. Naturally, I was drawn to the Bay Area teams and followed them religiously.

At the age of 17, I left the Bay and attended college at UC Davis. With the need to escape home but not live too far, it was the most logical choice. During those years I developed a love of teaching (I was an instructor for two drumlines) and honed my writing skills. I graduated with a degree in Psychology (watch out!) and a minor in Communication.

To hide my identity as a superhero, I am a high school English Teacher. My love of writing is shared with 11th and 12th graders; only half are probably listening while a ...

Passionate about Chicago sports. Has attended an MLB, NBA, and NFL playoff games in Chicago, as well as the NCAA tournament and the Rose Bowl. An LA born hard core fan who has been based in LA, Orange and San Diego counties. Dabbled in radio while in college, now helping folks real estate wise in the Glendale-Burbank part of Los Angeles.

Avid follower of the major team sports: baseball, football, hockey, soccer and hoops.

Have the greatest appreciation for a collection of individuals who are able to put their personal concerns aside to achieve a team goal.

Philosophies in sport:
1- Offense scores points, defense wins games.
2- Don't talk (crap) before you putt.
3- Don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon.

I'm 16 and have been playing organized baseball since I was three and travel baseball since I was seven. I have been a die-hard Tigers fan since I can remember. I have had season tickets for about 10 years now and have been to 12 straight Tiger Opening Days. My favorite holliday is not Christmas, but Opening Day.
I am the Community Leader for the Tigers as well.

I am pursuing a career in Sports Broadcasting or Sports Journalism, so writing here on B/R is a good help at getting started. Right now I am the sports anchor on my High School's news show and I'm the play-by-play announcer for most athletic events at our school (mostly volleyball, basketball and football).

Born in San Francisco, raised in Richmond, going to school at Cal.

I love the Giants, always have. Also loved the Niners my whole life. I like the A's, love the new Warriors and Cal football, and am starting to expand my horizons and embrace the Sharks. I hate Al Davis, and Robert Rowell, and the Yorks.

I'm a Political Science major here at Berkeley, and have aspirations of law school and sports journalism. I send emails to the Giants beat writer Chris Haft weekly, but have never had my question published in the mailbag. Hopefully next semester I'll be writing for the Daily Californian, but I have to wait till Spring to get that application back.

And now, standing 6'7", from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, class of 2007...well, you get the idea.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I grew up rooting for my hometown teams because I knew of nothing else, and I continue to do so because I don't know any better. The Bucks and Brewers will always break my heart, but I cheer on every win because I refuse to become a bandwagoner and switch teams.

I'm just glad that the Selig family and Larry Harris wore out their welcomes in town and the Brewers and Bucks now have capable minds running the professional sports teams.

Well, hey there - I'm Scott Fowler - Though, uhm, right: you're here, you knew that much already. I'm a transplanted Canadian that has real passion for Baseball and Hockey, more notably, The Los Angeles Angels or Anaheim, the Anaheim Ducks, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

That said, I'm also just a passionate baseball and hockey fan. I might wax nostalgic on here from time to time, but thats ok. . . . . right?

I'm also the new community leader for the (Los Angeles) Angels of Anaheim. I'm an OC Resident, and honestly will never really be able to call 'em the LA Angels. Just one of those things. If you have any questions or concerns, or comments, both derogatory and useful - - please let me know and drop me a line. :)

Born in 1983 in the suburbs of chicago. I have been raised on the real Chicago Sports teams. That means I carry the White Sox, Bears, Bulls, and Hawks in my gut and I despise and take great joy in the follies of America's most pathetic sports franchise, the Chicago flubs. I went to UCLA and am a season ticket holder for basketball and football.

Writer bio

I am in my junior year at Yale University, where I write and edit sports for the Yale Herald, the school's weekly paper.

As my picture shows, I used to play sports in high school: I played basketball and baseball. I like to think of myself as "retired."

I've lived in New York City all my life, but for some inexplicable reason my dad was a huge Pittsburgh Pirate fan when I was growing up, and now I am too. I have New York Jets season tickets and am also a big Knicks and Rangers fan. My dad also brought me up as a big Tennessee Volunteers fan, and after watching almost every game of the 2006 World Cup I have adopted soccer as my fifth sport and am an ardent Liverpool supporter.

I grew up playing baseball, basketball and football. I am a die hard Chicago fan.

I have the Chicago Cubs 1960's logo tattoo on my back. Some say it is excessive, but... I don't give a poop.

I was a Bulls fan BEFORE they started winning championships.

I wish I could have met Walter Payton.

I have met Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace, Ron Santo, Ernie Banks, Ferguson Jenkins, Billy Williams and many, many more Chicago Cubs.

Sometimes I start writing my articles, and then leave them sit here for hours, sometimes days, before I complete them. It is a problem, because if I have breaking news, it always comes out late, meaning it is no longer breaking news....

Being a big Boston Red Sox fan in the middle of Pennsylvania can be a pretty lonely business. I know that many will argue this point, stating that there are tons of Red Sox fans everywhere since '04 and '07, but in my neck of the woods it's mostly darkness and crickets.

The three main avenues for my free time these days include reading, writing, and the Red Sox. I try to be as objective as possible in my writing, but I am what I am and will make no apologies for it.

Aside from the Sox, my other sports interests include Notre Dame Football, the Philadelphia Eagles & the NFL, the Phillies, and to a small extent, Penn State Football. Kevin McGuire is a long time Philadelphia sports fan. When it comes to teams he is a 4-for-4 guy with his Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers but his most passionate following is for college football and the Penn State Nittany Lions. I am willing to tackle any topic, no matter how controversial. I write mostly recaps and editorials, but have been known to change gears and write about something mundane and put an interesting spin on it.

Also, when it launches later this year, I'm going to be the Senior Sports Writer for the website www.ihifimedia.com. I'm also considering launching a separate website where I will blog about all things Chicago Blackhawks.

I am a former writer for The Press of Atlantic City and covered high school sports, some college and a couple of pro boxing events during my 15-year career. In my career, I have covered high school and college playoff games, working next to guys like Bob Brookover and Mark Narduci, both of the Philadelphia Inquirer. I am currently between jobs. I am a four-for-four Philly guy and like the Phillies first, Eagles second, Flyers, then Sixers. The order can change depending on how the seasons run. Now that the Phillies have won a second World Series, the rest of the team are on the clock. It is probably why there is more pressure on the Eagles than ever before. I am a 22 year old senior at the University of Dayton. I'm from the Philadelphia area where I have developed a passion for all of the city's sports team. I am proud to say that the city's 25 year old curse is finally over and the Philadelphia Phillies are World Champions once again.

In his spare time, I am a student manager at the recreational facility on campus. I am also the Public Affairs and News Director at the University's radio station. Dan co-hosts a talk show every Monday from 4-6 and also broadcasts for the major sports teams at the University of Dayton.

Bleacherrepot has changed my life completely. I never thought I could enjoy writing so much until I found this website. I love writing about sports, especially the Phillies, Eagles, and Bengals.

I always enjoy reading...

55 years old, married, three children, two grandchildren. Can't remember when I didn't love sports and NY Yankees. Remember as a kid watching Sunday afternoon baseball with my Grandad. Played baseball through college, coached some, now just a fan. Live too far away to get to many games live, but have traveled to New York, Cincinnati and Chicago to see Yankees play. Love to go to minor league games and get MLB on Direct TV to see as many games as possible. Read everything I can on the Web including New York newspapers to follow Yankees. As a kid was a huge NFL fan and sort of lost interest, but have picked it up some in last few years because my wife is a huge Colts fan. Enjoy college basketball. Can't stand NBA. No interest in hockey or NASCAR.

Hey, internet! Quick facts: I'm currently living in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. It's about an hour north of Milwaukee, where I'm planning on moving to after I find a real job to go along with my internship for the Milwaukee Wave indoor soccer team.

I'm a graduate from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse class of '06, and then spent two years there as a television news reporter. It was fun, but ultimately wasn't for me. So in the meantime, I'm working on my blog, www.thebuckychannel.com, and planning my next move.

Thanks for reading!

Even though he's a student at Rice University, Casey spent his formative in the beautiful, grandiose, and placid Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, that means his teams are always one player away from dominating. Always.
