Tottenham Hotspur have been on a recent good run of results, against Arsenal and Liverpool to name a few, but one problem still remains—the goalkeeper position.

I would like to start by saying that I am not a Spurs fan but the Tottenham goalkeeper, Heurelho Gomes, has gained the attention of every Premier League Fan with his awful displays in recent weeks.

He is the worst goalkeeper in recent years - and a close second to Massimo Taibi since the Premier League's inception, but if he keeps going like he is he may take that crown away from the Italian.

Recently, Harry Redknapp and the Spurs board decided to sack their goalkeeping coach, Hans Leitert, who has only been at the club for just over a year.  He was blamed for not “getting in the head of Gomes” and helping him to get him out of the awful form he is in.

Even with the poor showings of the Brazilian goalkeeper, Harry Redknapp has chosen to stick with his “No. 1”.

However Ben Alnwick has been recalled from his loan spell at Carlisle as cover for Gomes. Spurs also have 37-year-old ‘keeper Cesar Sanchez as another back-up.

I would like to hear Tottenham fans' views on Gomes and whether they should let the other two goalkeepers have a go in goal, or whether you should stick with your current No. 1?

  1. I was watching a football gaffes programme last night - almost half of it was Spurs keepers including Ian Walker and his ilk. Gomes must have been studying them closely.

    1. Haha probably!

      Thanks for the comment!

  2. I've seen Gomes in action many times for PSV. He was a reliable keeper, who won his team several championships. He's also a sensitive guy, mess with his head and he will make mistakes. Give him some time.

  3. gomes can actually be a brilliant goalkeeper sometimes, as he can pull off some amazing saves. i can see why redknapp sticks with him in goal, but he really does need to stop his regular blunders if he is to maintain his position as no.1, and if he is to help tottenham climb up the league table.

    1. Redknapp has only stuck with him because he simply has no other 'keeper of worthy quality. I firmly believe he will be gone or benched come January. He isnt really Harry's signing anyway...
