NASCAR, Juan Pablo Montoya, Editorial

Heck yeaa! The last two years has proved he can drive a 3000 pound plus race car and keep it running most of the time.

After multiple open wheel champions gave nascar  a shot, there has been only one driver that has kept his team in the top 35  standing, that is one Juan Pablo Montoya.

You really have to give a Juan credit for driving so well the last two years, if you considered the fact that he had never driven a stock car until a few years ago, how can you not be impressed at what he has done so far in nascar?

Despite the carousel of crew chiefs he had to endure this year, he still found a way to finish 25th. in the standings, he also had some great runs at Talladega (I belive Talladega will be a win next year) Martinsville, Atlanta, Homestead, and of course there is always the good runs at the road courses.

Let's not forget, all these was done on (and I'm being kind) lower tear equipment, the Ganassi cars were not the best NASCAR had to offer, can we all agree on that?

The 2009 season will be, in my opinion, a pivotal year for Juan in NASCAR. He has to make the chase, his team has to perform or Montoya will probably go somewhere where he can drive for a top team, I would bet the house that if it were scuderia Farrari offering him a ride rather than Toro Rosso he would of gone back to F1  this year.

I hope his DEI Chevy is at least as good as the car he's been driving the last three or four weeks. Looking forward to next season.  Can't wait.

  1. Normally I wouldn't comment on JPM, but I am kind of impressed, with limited sponsorship he still fell into the top 35 in owners points. Which is important. And I think the DEI Gannassi Merger is a bit strange, since they are 2 different manufacturers, however, DEI will have Childress engines for their cars.
I also think Juan has made it his goal to win many races in NASCAR. Unlike "Mr. Ashley Judd", er I mean Dario Franchitti who jumped back instead of trying for a NASCAR Ride next year, the broken ankle didnt help, Sam Hornish Jr is still trying to stay around, and I think Carpantier will go back to Indy.

Since he will be in a Chevy Next year, I can't exactly pull against him, however, he has kinda been secretly one of those underdogs you want to win.

    All I will admit. =0Þ

  2. Juan is officially a stock car driver, and yes he will make the chase... he's in a chevy for 09 and he will get even better..

  3. Al, I think JPM is definitely now a legit stock car driver - I've become more and more impressed with him.
