As you may know, the WWE issued that it had done a surprise drug test for the RAW locker room this week. They have been doing it for the other brands as well. According the a source from the wrestling observer, one wrestler tested positive for marijuana over 12 times.
The WWE superstar's name is Brian Kendrick. Now, these failures are not considered violations of the Wellness Policy, but rather, simply result in a $1,000 fine.
However, a couple of wrestlers were told outright to stop using now. They were warned that discipline for use is going to get a lot more serious soon.
Now, Kendrick has been said to be a frequent marijuana smoker who happily pays the fines to continue his habit. Also, his push that he received just over a few months ago has been stopped.
Kendrick would have been in championship matches but instead has been put down into mid-card matches. Although he is winning some, he is not expected to be pushed any time soon.
His bodyguard, Ezekiel Jackson, has been getting involved in matches and the WWE wants to push him and get him involved. They tried this same storyline with Bam Neely and Chavo Guerrero, but Bam never really lived up to it.
They looked good in the La Familia storyline, but not afterwards. Ryder and Hawkins have not been doing so well out of it either.

But back to Zek. It is uncertain when he will be featured without Kendrick or if it will ever happen. I guess we will have to watch and see.
But for now, with Kendrick getting involved with pot, don't be surprises if the WWE lets him go. They are still letting many go at this point and have been letting many go just over the last few weeks.
If Kendrick doesn't get on track and off of the stuff, there is no doubt that he will be released by the WWE and join his buddy Paul London in the independents. The man with a plan needs to draw a plan on how he will stay employed to me.
Involving story of WWE's marijuana crackdown, the Pro Wrestling Torch noted that one wrestler was let go this year as a result of his marijuana habit, at least on top of a few other things.
The wrestler in question is Trevor Murdoch, who was released this past July. Murdoch is said to be a frequent marijuana smoker. He also got in trouble backstage for allegedly getting into a fight with a top RAW superstar too.
Both Kendrick and Trever had been tag champs before and one is released because of frequent marijuana use, there is no doubt there could be another.
See, these guys are two reasons why the WWE looks bad to people and is not respected. These guys are supposed to be examples to a younger generation, but instead they go out and get high.
The WWE went to PG to appeal to younger audiences. Guys like Murdoch and Kendrick are just dumb and bad examples to follow. And although Murdoch was cut, the WWE has only fined Kendrick $1,000.
Please. He has that in change, WWE. Fire him, suspend him for a few months like you did Jeff Hardy, or just don't put him on TV. You put Hardy on the 'three strikes your out clause,' why don't you put Kendrick on that too?
Maybe it will be a wake-up call to this young talented man and make him realize that he is throwing his life away and disgracing his entire family's name. I don't like to be the barer of bad news, but hey, Kendrick, I'd fire you. Maybe Mr. McMahon is thinking about it too.
Oh and don't try going to TNA. They don't hire many drug addicts, especially ones that fail drug test over 12 times for pot. Not many independents hire pot users either. So look at your future Kendrick.
This is my opinion, but what is yours? Let me know

"Not many independents hire pot users, either. "
-- I think you and I have been going to different shows.
from about 1 month ago
I didm't say that all did not, I just said that not many of them do. Now if they are not caught then it is another story, but Kendrick here is obviously caught and is now out in the open about it, they won't hire him, because if they book for him for a show and he is smokiing pot then well no Kendrick.

The Observer didn't even print the news, so it's a flawed article.

well it ws from it

You know what? I've been hearing about this for a little while now (especially over at Lords of Pain) and I would have never guessed that the person in question was Brian Kendrick. But now that his name comes up, he does seem like a goofy Jeff Spicoli sort of pot head.
the pot explains the goofy smile TBK always sports I guess.
i knew before I typed in B/R URL that you, Joe, would have printed this story. Something in me just said Joe wrote about TBK and the pot use.
I understand that you are trying to incorporate your opinions into these stories you reproduce Joe, but let's not make generalizations like these:
"Not many independents hire pot users, either. "

Kendricks push is not "over". Its just hit a "ceiling". Now he just has to break through it. Thats the hard part.
from about 1 month ago
oh ya it is Ross, have you seen him in any prominant matches where he won?? NO!! But when he pushed started he waqs involved in main event calibar matches, even in scramble match for the WWE Title, which he might have won. But now look at what he is doing, please tell me the last main event guy he beat and then you can tell me his push isn't over. They are even pushing Zek just to frustrate him, notice that?

I never liked the Brian Kendrick angle to tell you the truth. He was good in the tag team circuit with London and that was cool but they can fire him for all I care.

WWE is only scraping the tip of the iceberg. So many more wrestling stars are regular cannabis smokers that if they were to boot them all, you'd be shocked at how many are gone. (And that's just the ones I've smoked with.)
I won't give my standard lecture on the ridiculousness of criminalizing and demonizing the safest recreational substance around. On this list, the irony of a steroid-inflated entertainment genre sponsored by beer companies booting valued employees for cannabis use is probably only amusing to me. Besides, WWE is a private business entity entitled to enforce any employee agreements lawfully signed, and it's their prerogative to boot cannabis users. WWE didn't make cannabis illegal - we did. Can't blame WWE for wanting to look good in the eyes of the law, no matter how stupid the law is.
What of WWE stars who live in one of the thirteen states that recognize medical use of cannabis? It seem odd to me that these athlete's employers would force them to take addictive prescription opiates for pain relief when they could use medical cannabis absolutely legally in their state.
WWE wants to "send the right message to the children." It's always "the children". We can't have WWE stars using cannabis, because it sends the wrong message to the children. It somehow conflicts with the wholesome "smack a guy with a folding chair to settle disputes" message and the "surgically-enhanced aerobics babes can be sex objects and kick ass" message we're sending to the children.
Give me a break! These guys and gals out their bodies through hell night after night. If they can relax and get some pain relief from cannabis, then leave them alone! Don't divert them to addictive pain killers or alcohol or other drugs that are more dangerous yet much harder to test for. When is this country going to grow up and let adults be adults and stop arresting, imprisoning, and ruining the lives of people who choose pot over Pall Malls, Percocet, or Pabst Blue Ribbon?

I agree with Russ and add that while actually promoting artificially-enhanced bodies, the Pro Wrasslin' companies are really screwing themselves by having testing for anything. It is against their better interests. The "athletes" are the pawns to be used until no longer needed and then kicked to the curb like an old circus animal.
Marijuana is the perfect choice for wrestlers for either recreation or medicinal use. Alcohol is their worst enemy and well-documented in the lives of former wrestlers. The painkillers passed around like candy are destructive to the body and addiction to them spells a bleak future for any athlete in a sport with such a brief, average length career.
I have a son in high school wrestling and am thankful his award-winning coach does not endorse Pro Wrasslin' and marijuana use by performers is at the bottom of his expressed concerns about the shows.

I have to admit I agree with Russ a 100 percent.
There's worse things the WWE stars could be doing then pot.
The rampant abuse of alcohol and pain medicine to me is far worse.
I dont think we'll ever hear or have ever heard a story, "Wrestler dies, found in motel room after doing too much pot"
On the other hand look how many deaths have taken place due to alcohol and pain medicine, and steriod abuse.
As far as WWE taking a child friendly approach, this merit's a whole article unto intself.
I'm glad you mentioned it Joe.
Because I've been thinking about it lately.
WWE has become PG tv, and is trying to get the kid viewerd and be kid friendly.
That's all fine and great if that's the direction they want to take it, but WWE is in limbo over that right now.
If they want to be kid friendly, then go all out and bring WWE back to how it was in the 1980.s
Coloful character's, more inteview and filmed segements, more storyline development. Zany characters.
WWF was like this in the 80's and it worked and was a huge success.
Now some will say, including myself though on the flip side of this.
Why does wWE have to revent to kid friendly.
WWE became huge again in the mid late 90's with the attitude era. And that was the opposite of kid friendly.
WWE needs to decide what direction they want to go.
They are somewhere between the WWE of the early 90's and late 90's.
Which is limbo.
And WWE was tanking in the early 90's.
So they either need to go and make it like the attitude era, or create something new, or go old school and make it like a weekly saturday morning comic book cartoon.
The fact they've gone this far that they want to be kid friendly, they might as well go circa late 80's stuff and run with it and see if the fans take to it. They dont have the characters that kids and adults alike can get beshinds like they did in the 80's. I'm sorry.
The wrestlers need to work on thier persona presence. WWF stars of the 80's were larger then life.
Now probably half the stars cant even cut a promo.

Well you may not see a wrestlers name at the top of the headlines for it yet, but it will happen, how many times have we heard it from celebrities?
You need to learn how to write and also get your facts straight. It is extremely evident that you are nothing more than a fanboy who doesn't really have a fucking clue what you are talking about. Kendrick will not be released for marijuana use and his push is not over by any means. Quit pretending to know what you're talking about and go take some grammer classes.

Kendrick should go to JCW and tag team with Billy Bong. lol

No one has ever OD'd or murdered their wife and son because they were stoned.
Can't say that for 'roids or painkillers.
I'm just sayin....
from about 1 month ago
Well, no one has proven that 'roids or painkillers would make you do that either. If that were the case more than half of all professional athletes not just wrestlers would be mass murderers. What can be said is that no one has had a premature fatal heart attack from smoking weed, but if you ask me WWE cares more about being indicted than the health of their wrestlers.
from about 1 month ago
Weel yes they have, wrestlers possibly not, we hear just abiut them like they are superhuman that they are the only ones we judge our opinions on, see your right, no wrestler has, but other non-wrestlers have, so don't sit there and base it on just the WWE or other wrestling organizations. They are people too, just liek you and me, we should be basing it on all people and not just them. So in that I know that people have killed their wife high ot on other drugs. Phil Hartan was killed by his wife who was high and had a few drinks, Hartman was shot and killed and then his wife shot herself. The otopsy showded the has marijuana and a few coctals, and that is your exhibit A. SO just because it has nothappened to a wrestler doesn't mean it can't
about 1 month ago
I agree Randy, the WWE is just trying to cover their a$$.
I was just crackin jokes and give Hurricane Helms some props.
On a serious note though, while it may not be proven that steroids caused Benoit to kill his family, but it has been proven that 'roids and painkiller do deteriorate the brain. And there are plenty of reported cases of "Roid Rage". Or someone ODing from painkillers and alcohol.
Again, I'm just sayin.

Wow....what a load of crap. You really shouldn't write about something you have no correct knowledge of. Your marijuana diatribe sounds like reefer madness re-visited. For christ's sake read a book....from a legitimate source. The only way marijuana can kill or hurt you is if a bale of it falls on you. People like you should keep your opinions to yourself rather than air them as fact and add to the abundance of misinformation out there. In closing...you suck.
from about 1 month ago
WOW I like the name seems that you know about it personally. And although it can't kill you what it does to you can, see when you are highyour judgement is off, try driving when you are really high, sure you could be ok to drive with just a little, but when your judgement is off you don't care who you hurt, even yourself
