The Muhlenberg Mules just can't seem to get a break.
They lost again today in front of their home crowd, this time in the hands of Penn State University.
Muhlenberg faced the PSU club hockey team (Division II), and were blown out once again, this time by a score of 11-0. Muhlenberg was outplayed from the opening puck drop until the final buzzer, and it showed on the scoreboard. They gave up 76 shots on goal to the Penn State Ice Lions.
For the first half of the first period, Muhlenberg was able to stay with the Lions, not allowing one goal to go through. Junior goaltender David Emerson was brilliant, stopping many shots he shouldn't have. However, his brilliant play was not enough to keep Muhlenberg in this game, as the rest of the team did not help him out nor give him the support that he needed to keep the score low.

The Mules once again looked flat, even more so than in the Seton Hall game. They won very few faceoffs, and the ones that they did win, PSU still won the race to the puck. 'Berg lost every foot race to the puck, did not finish their checks, and seemed afraid to take a check. Their lack of checking and pressure resulted in at least seven of the eleven goals, as Lion players were allowed to skate right through to the slot.
Altogether, Muhlenberg failed miserably in today's game. Although they were expected to lose, they were still expected to make it tough for the Lions, and they were unable to do so. Penn State seemed to skate right through this game easily, and was able to come out with an easy win.
Muhlenberg has a week break for the school's fall break, and plays Lafayette College in a home-and-home series on October 17 and 18.
