NBA, Miami Heat, Shaun Livingston, Breaking News

Reports are coming out of South Florida that the Miami Heat have won the Shaun Livingston sweepstakes.

The ex-Clipper guard met with the Heat on Friday, where a 2-year contract was signed.

Livingston's agent, Henry Thomas, said earlier this week that Shaun was "leaning toward Miami."

With little space in salary cap, look for the Heat to make a trade deal somewhere down the line to dump the contracts of Guards Daequon Cook, Dorrell Wright, or possibly Marcus Banks. They have all been names mentioned that may be gone.

A former No. 4 overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-7 guard was on his way to stardom with the Clippers before suffering a gruesome season-ending knee injury.

The question still remains, can he bounce back from such a devastating injury? Time will tell with the Miami Heat.

  1. Man, I was hoping he'd sign with the Warriors and try to resurrect his career in Oakland.

Oh well, good luck in Miami, Shaun. This could be a great pickup for the Heat if can recover well. Livingston's size could make him a great back-court partner for Wade in the future.

  2. yea definitely, the deal was signed today, livingston signed a two year contract. He claims he is only weeks from 100%. This can be great for the Heat.

  3. The signing is a little bit scary. He has never played a whole season - i read he averages 60 games per season. And with the massive injuries he has had, one can never assume he will be anything close to what people thought and hoped he would be when he was drafted.

Even if he plays 90% like he used, he is an upgrade at the point fro what was left on the Heat roster with Jason Williams retiring.

  4. The signing is a bit questionable, but with Randy Pfund out as Heat GM, this had to be a Pat Riley decision. Riles knows what he is doing, and I trust he signed Livingston knowing something we all don't. This can be great.
